Hidden Treasure

Oh, the things our hands grasp,
the mountains we climb,
the hours we waste
chasing after something,
or perhaps someone,
that seemingly holds
the promise of happiness,
only to discover the cracks,
the dull luster, or worse yet,
a heart that takes
and never gives.
But once in awhile,
it is possible to discover
a hidden treasure
that lies in the quietest
of souls, a calm spirit content
to stand in silence,
patiently waiting to be found.
