As a writer and musician, there have been many times that a particular quote or lyrics from a song have impacted me to the point of changing my mindset about something or of motivating me to try something new.
If you asked my family and closest friends, they would all point out the fact that I do not do well with change. However, as I’ve gotten older and have realized how much power I have to make my life, and the lives of others, far better than it would’ve been if I had chosen to stay in my comfort zone, I’ve chosen to dwell on the positive aspects of change and to embrace them willingly.
If you are lacking motivation or simply need some encouragement, here are some quotes I have found to be inspiring:
1.“It is never too late to be what you might have been.” – George Eliot
2.“Be the change that you wish to see in the world.” – Mahatma Gandhi
3.“Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.” – Rumi
4.“And that is how change happens. One gesture. One person. One moment at a time.” – Libba Bray
5.“I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.” – Mother Teresa
6.“Some changes look negative on the surface but you will soon realize that space is being created in your life for something new to emerge.” – Echkart Tolle
7.“Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change.” – Wayne Dwyer
8.“One day spent with someone you love can change everything.” – Mitch Albom
9.“Sometimes the slightest things change the directions of our lives, the merest breath of a circumstance, a random moment that connects like a meteorite striking the earth. Lives have swiveled and changed direction on the strength of a chance remark.” – Bryce Courtenay
10.“Change is the end result of all true learning.” – Leo Buscaglia
I do understand that change can be painful and frightening. Fear of the unknown keeps many of us from improving our lives. I went through a period of almost four years where I had to discover who I was, what I believed, and what I wanted out of life. It was the most difficult time of my life, but like the caterpillar in a cocoon, I finally emerged, ready to take flight.
