waves

With each determined step, she faced the rolling waves,
the swirling current threatening to drown her in darkness again.
But this time she smiled before her body submerged,
a pair of wary eyes daring to peek open,
this time noticing the pools of sunlight, dispelling the fear
that had crippled her before.
